Types of manuscripts
RJS accepts original scholarly research articles (full research papers) and short papers/ communications (less than 10 manuscript pages) across a broad spectrum of pure and applied sciences, and interdisciplinary sciences. Review articles and editorials are not published in RJS. Final decision on the type of the paper will be taken by the editorial board on the recommendations given by the reviewers considering the depth of the research work and the length of the manuscript. Guidelines for manuscript preparation
Use Times font size 12, 1.5 line space. After peer review and acceptance, authors will be requested to format the paper according to the template provided separately. Please upload the non-pdf version of your manuscript saved as a word processing file (doc, docx). Further details are

Title: Title can have maximum 100 characters with spaces (times font 14)

Keywords. list max of 5 keywords; keywords help to locate your paper in search engines; list with an order from broader to specific keywords. Avoid repeating words included already in the title.
Running title: A meaningful short running title to be used in page headers of the paper should be given (Max: 50 characters without space). If not given, editors may add one.
Author contributions. This is a compulsory statement. State contribution of all authors (contributions to the conception and design, acquisition of data, analysis, and interpretation of data, drafting the article, revising it critically for important inclusions etc.). The corresponding author must ensure that all authors have read and consented to the content of the manuscript being submitted. Signed ‘Author declaration form’ should be sent at the initial submission of the manuscript.
2. Main text
Title of the paper (Please do not include author names/ or affiliations)
Abstract: The abstract should summarize the contents of the paper and should contain at least 100 and no more than 250 words.
Text body: Following are just general section guidelines in a full article, but authors may form sections in an appropriate manner to the work being reported (esp. for theoretical/ Mathematical papers):
In a short paper, introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgements (if any) and References.
* Please insert the tables and figures at relevant places within the text body.
References
The references in the manuscript should follow the APA referencing style. The manuscript body should have the citation in text given by the last name of the first author and the year of publication, not listed by numbers, and the references cited together in the text should be arranged chronologically (e.g. Abeywickrama 1960; John and Smith 1982; Foell et al. 1999). The list of references should be written in alphabetical order on the last name of the lead author, and chronologically for the same author. Publications by the same author(s) in the same year should be listed as 1982a, 1982 b, etc. Few types of references are given in the examples below, and authors are requested to see a recent article published in RJS for further details.

Peer Review
Ruhuna Journal of Science uses a double-blind review process. Generally two peer reviewers are chosen for the peer review. Peer reviewers are ideally experts in their field. The editor is responsible for the overall editorial process and coordination. Typically the journal asks the reviewers to complete their reviews within 3-4 weeks.
